Vegetarian diet seriously hampers athlete’s ability to perform. There is no doubt about this. But there are many alternatives to eating a low grade garbage meat like pork which apparently the Chinese love. Mainly Fish and Protein shakes and soybeans.

Chinese coaches and officials are panicking that meat-free diets imposed on Olympic athletes outside their training camps are hampering performances in the lead-up to the London Games.
The country’s athletes have been ordered to minimise the risk of accidental doping from clenbuterol-tainted meat by steering clear of pork, lamb and beef. The coach of the Chinese women‘s volleyball team, however, has blamed three weeks on a vegetarian diet for their four straight defeats at the recent world grand prix tournament in Ningbo.
