This is risky business. Raising money in this depressed market and a US listing does not bode well for this purported IPO. Manchester United should have stuck with Singapore. At least there they would get lots of publicity. In the US, people would not know what Manchester United is.

Singapore can wave goodbye to that $1 billion initial public offering as Manchester United opts for a much smaller – and somewhat surprising – U.S. listing instead.

As the WSJ reports late Tuesday night, the soccer club has filed for an IPO with the New York Stock Exchange of up to $100 million, though that’s just the registration amount and does not reflect that actual number of stock the company plans to sell. Man U did not set an offering size.
