I am glad that terrorist is behind jail.

OSLO (Reuters) – A Norwegian court found Anders Behring Breivik sane on Friday and gave him a maximum jail term for murdering 77 people in a shooting and bombing last year, offering closure to a Nordic nation devastated by its worst attack since World War Two.
Breivik, who has admitted blowing up the Oslo government headquarters with a fertilizer bomb, killing eight, before gunning down 69 at the ruling party’s summer youth camp, was sentenced to 21 years in prison, the maximum penalty in Norway.
But officials can prevent his release indefinitely and are expected to do so if the anti-Muslim right-winger still poses a threat. Breivik had rejected prosecutors’ arguments that he was mad, and had said he would appeal if he were ruled insane.

I hope justice is served. The incident was a great tragedy.

OSLO, Norway (AP) — With a rambling monologue depicting Norway’s worst peacetime massacre as a necessary evil, confessed mass killer Anders Behring Breivik got the last word as his 10-week trial ended Friday amid conflicting claims about his sanity.

Relatives of his 77 victims said they hope it’s the last they hear of him.

Prosecutors on Thursday called for an insanity ruling, saying there was enough doubt about Breivik’s mental state to preclude a prison sentence.

The five-judge panel will announce its ruling on Aug. 24, chief judge Wenche Elisabeth Arntzen said.

Prosecutors: Norwegian gunman Anders Breivek played World of Warcraft for up to seven hours straight for months on end. Farkers: Is that a lot?–abc-news-topstories.html

Anders Breivik, the right-wing extremist who has confessed to killing 77 people during a murder spree in Norway last summer, played the violent computer game World of Warcraft nearly seven hours a day for several consecutive months before his attack, prosecutors say.

Breivik, 33, already known to have a long history with the onlinerole-playing game, was particularly absorbed by it between November 2010 and February 2011, when he played for an average of 6 hours and 50 minutes per day, according to prosecutors.

The new evidence in Breivik’s ongoing trial was presented in an Oslo court on Wednesday. When asked about his interest in the game by a prosecutor, Breivik angrily dismissed the idea that playing World of Warcraft had any connection to his attacks, according to media reports.

“It is not relevant to this case whatsoever,” Breivik said, getting so upset that he threatened to turn off his microphone, according to Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang.

On July 22, 2011, Breivik detonated a bomb in central Oslo that killed eight people, and then shot and killed 69 people attending a youth summer camp on the nearby island of Utoya. Breivik admitted mounting the attacks after his arrest, and used weapons named after Norse gods to massacre his victims.

He has previously stated that he played Warcraft, as well as another “first-person shooter” game called Modern Warfare, for hours daily.

In Warcraft, players assume the identity of an online character to use magic and weapons to battle monsters and other characters and go on quests.

According to prosecutors, Breivik played Warcraft under the aliases “Andersnordic” and “Conservatism.”

Norwegian anthropologist Thomas Hylland Eriksen, who was brought in as an expert witness for Breivik’s defense earlier this year, said in an interview with the British network ITN that Breivik was apparently unable to separate games from reality.

“He does not seem to be very successful at distinguishing between the virtual reality of ‘World of Warcraft’ and other video games and reality,” Eriksen said.

In a March 2008 post on a web forum devoted to the game, user “Andersnordic” posted that the game had been responsible for making him “300kg, bald and pale,” and told the game’s developer Blizzard Entertainment, “You’ll hear from my lawyer!”

Ikea hires translators to avoid sexually explicit product names. Subby will miss cleevlündsteemer duvet and cover sets–ikea-what-s-swedish-for-oops?bn=1

Ikea has hired translators in Thailand over concerns its product names could run afoul of the country’s conservative mores.

Redalen, a town in Norway after which a bed sold by the Swedish furniture chain is named, sounds similar to a sex act in Thailand, says a Wall Street Journal report.

As the retail giant continues to expand into new markets, it is discovering that the tongue-twisting Scandinavian names utilized for merchandise may have untoward meanings in other languages, the paper said.

The company, which was unable to respond to questions by the Star Tuesday or Wednesday, realized that terms like Jättebra, for a plant pot, can echo a crude Thai term for sex after it launched its fifth-largest superstore in Bangkok last year.

So, Ikea hired locals to scrutinize product names to see how they sounded in Thai before transliterating them into Thailand’s cursive, Sanskrit-influenced alphabet. In some cases, they changed a vowel sound or a consonant to prevent unfortunate misunderstandings, said the Journal.
