President Elect Barak Obama

It was a fun election.

WASHINGTON (AP) — His lease renewed in trying economic times, President Barack Obama claimed a second term from an incredibly divided electorate and immediately braced for daunting challenges and progress that comes only in fits and starts.

“We have fought our way back and we know in our hearts that for the United States of America, the best is yet to come,” Obama said.

Army Soldiers Allegedly Plotted To Kill President Obama

This is insanity. But then again there have been plots like these all the time by insane people, but coming from current and former soldiers that is what boggles the mind.

A state prosecutor said on Monday that four U.S. soldiers had secret roles in a militia that planned to kill President Obama and take over the Fort Stewart Army base in Georgia, according to a report by the Associated Press.

The four soldiers, who served at Fort Stewart, were allegedly part of a group that went by the name F.E.A.R., or Forever Enduring Always Ready. The prosecutor said the members were inked with matching tattoos, and authorities have no idea if other people were part of the group, the report said.

LUDOWICI, Ga. (AP) — Four Army soldiers based in southeast Georgia killed a former comrade and his girlfriend to protect an anarchist militia group they formed that stockpiled assault weapons and plotted a range of anti-government attacks, prosecutors told a judge Monday.

Prosecutors in rural Long County, near the sprawling Army post Fort Stewart, said the militia group of active and former U.S. military members spent at least $87,000 buying guns and bomb components. They allege the group was serious enough to kill two people — former soldier Michael Roark and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Tiffany York — by shooting them in the woods last December in order to keep its plans secret.

“This domestic terrorist organization did not simply plan and talk,” prosecutor Isabel Pauley told a Superior Court judge. “Prior to the murders in this case, the group took action. Evidence shows the group possessed the knowledge, means and motive to carry out their plans.”

Well, Amazon is a big rival of Google. Amazon has slowly built an empire and it is place where all your needs in terms of purchase can be fulfilled.

It’s very easy to get caught up in the Android versus iPhone duel and Google’s recruiting battles with its newly-public Silicon Valley neighbor, Facebook.
But neither one of those companies worry Google executives as much as another that is actively taking money out of their pockets.
This company is from Washington, but no, it’s not Microsoft.
Google’s real rival, and real competition to watch over the next few years is Amazon.

In 2006, Richard S. Fuld Jr., left, then chairman and chief of Lehman Brothers, with Joseph Gregory, then president and chief operating officer.

What goes up, must come down, that is just the nature of things. The once mighty executives of Lehman Brothers are not so mighty anymore. But as we know bankers always get bailed out by the Government because the Bankers have the politicians in their back pockets and Washington is bought and sold on a whim.
The wind-down of Joseph M. Gregory’s once vast fortune has hit a new level: Lehman Brothers’ former chief operating officer has listed his Long Island mansion for sale.
Real estate agents at Coldwell Banker have listed a six-bedroom, eight-bathroom house in Lloyd Harbor, N.Y. The street address of the property — which includes a 15,000-square-foot main house and a 6,000-square-foot guest house — matches public records for Mr. Gregory. The asking price is $22 million.

Poverty Rates in the US

This is certainly bad news and even worse for the upcoming elections and the incumbent President.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The ranks of America’s poor are on track to climb to levels unseen in nearly half a century, erasing gains from the war on poverty in the 1960s amid a weak economy and fraying government safety net.

Census figures for 2011 will be released this fall in the critical weeks ahead of the November elections.
The Associated Press surveyed more than a dozen economists, think tanks and academics, both nonpartisan and those with known liberal or conservative leanings, and found a broad consensus: The official poverty rate will rise from 15.1 percent in 2010, climbing as high as 15.7 percent. Several predicted a more modest gain, but even a 0.1 percentage point increase would put poverty at the highest level since 1965.

The whole system is rigged and this Kangaroo show is just the tip of the ice-berg and to re-assure the gullible masses that there is someone watching over these mega-banks, when the fact is that the whole Financial Industry is out of order.

Barclays has agreed to pay more than $450 million to resolve accusations that it attempted to manipulate key interest rates, the first settlement in a sprawling global investigation targeting many of the world’s biggest banks

The British bank struck a deal with regulators in Washington and London, as well as the Justice Department. The settlement is seen as the first in a series of potential cases against other major financial firms.

The broad investigation centers on the way Barclays and other big banks set key benchmarks for borrowing, lending rates that affect corporations and consumers.

An important barometer of the health of the financial system, the rate not only affects big banks and corporations, but also homeowners. Libor and similar rates are used to determine the price for more than $350 trillion worth of financial products, including complex derivatives, student loans, credit cards and mortgages.

I think, therefore I am

This is an amazing study to further our studies of primates in particular and animals in general. For instance the bonobo ape having its DNA mapped show that they are only 1.3% different than humans. Pretty interesting stuff in general that can help us better understand the animal kingdom and as a result better be able to understand ourselves.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The more we study animals, the less special we seem.

Baboons can distinguish between written words and gibberish. Monkeys seem to be able to do multiplication. Apes can delay instant gratification longer than a human child can. They plan ahead. They make war and peace. They show empathy. They share.
